Be the Love (PM)

Sometimes it goes against our nature, but love for others is evidence of Jesus living in us, and us living in Him.
Be the Love
Romans 5:5

The amazing love of God is our reason for living. The fact is, when we have God's love in our lives, His love is enough. When we don't have God's love in our lives, we will never have enough! Are you still chasing after more material things, filling your life with nonsense and things that perish with the using? What if 2016 is the year you truly come to understand the love of God in your life? The Holy Spirit is pouring out God's heart to you through the Word, make sure your heart is open, and that you have prepared room for God's love in your life!

1. Love is How We Know God - 1 John 4:7-8
  1. Notice that John says, God is love; he doesn't say Love is God. But in a subtle way, we change the meaning of John's words and try to craft God into something he's not. – Romans 1:21-23
  2. We can't craft God the way we want Him; we have to let Him tell us who He is.
  3. No matter what our preconceptions might be, God is love. And when we love one another, we know God. – Mark 12:29-31
2. Love is How We See God - 1 John 4:9-10
  1. Jesus coming to Earth was the only time we actually saw God. God's love is made real and visible to us by Jesus' sacrifice. – Romans 1:20, 1 John 3:16-18
  2. When we love others, we can still see that love alive in the world. – John 13:34-35
3. Love is How We Follow God - 1 John 4:11-12
  1. He loved, so we love. Once we know Him, we start to see the way He's working in the world, and then we begin to actively follow in His love. – 1 John 5:3-5
  2. Our love is accepted by God in our obedience!
  3. God is love. John tells us that when we love one another, God lives in us. When we live in love, we live the kind of life that Jesus lived. – Ephesians 5:1-2
Conclusion
  • Sometimes it goes against our nature, but love for others is evidence of Jesus living in us, and us living in Him.
  • There are four Greek words for "love": eros, phileo, storge, and agape. Eros can be defined: "I love you IF," phileo and storge can be defined: "I love you BECAUSE," but agape can be defined: "I love you IN SPITE OF...."
  • In 1 John it says that God loves with agape love. No matter what, He loves us and is ready to accept us. And when we love like that, we are really living with God's love in our hearts!
