The Church in Exile

The Church in Exile: Living Faithfully as Exiles in a Foreign Land #5
Duration:38 mins
The Church in Exile: Living Faithfully as Exiles in a Foreign Land

  • Between 2006 and 2011, there were 145 countries where Christians were being harassed in some way because of their beliefs.
  • Between 1917 and 1980, nearly 15 million Christians died while living in prison camps where they were placed because of their faith,
  • It is estimated that 100 million Christian are being persecuted for their faith around the world right now.
Daniel 3:4-25 – How did they have the courage?

1. They trusted the promise of God.
  • Isaiah 43:1-3; Psalm 73:23-26
Tempted to Compromise???
  • When tempted it all comes down to ONE thing...Is God faithful to what he promised?
  • Doubting the character and strength of God is at the root of every temptation and sin.
2. They trusted the providence of God.
  • These three men so confidently trusted God that they left the choice as to whether they lived or died in his hands.
  • We don't live by explanations; we live by his promises.
Lessons for us...

1. Opposition is to be expected. 1 Peter 4:12-14
2. We must learn to stand alone if needed. Mark 8:36
  • It appears the majority bowed before the image because they feared the furnace more than they feared God.
TWO Resolutions...
  • Resolution #1 - I will live for God
  • Resolution #2 – If no one else does, I still will.
3. It is NOT necessary for us to have freedom to be faithful.
  • It is unnecessary for us win in this life in order to win in the life to come.
Daniel 3:29
  • God doesn't only forgive those with little sins!!! He forgives ALL who cry out to and follow Him.
  • STAND even when everyone else BOWS.
