Irresistible Faith

Irresistible Faith #1
Duration:39 mins 42 secs
Irresistible Faith #1

Acts 2:42-47..."having favor with all the people..."
  • The favor with all the people those early believers enjoyed is gone or at very least diminishing.
  • Rather than shining as a light TO the culture, many Christians have become products OF the culture.
What would it look like for Christians to become an IRRESISTIBLE FORCE?
  • 2 Corinthians 2:15
  • The identifying mark of the city of God is when citizens of the heavenly city become the very best citizens of the earthly one. Colossians 3:2?
Sanctification? Isn't it interesting that the more like Jesus we actually become, the less like Jesus we tend to feel?

Reason NOT to Despair...Encouragement comes from knowing that even the greatest heroes of faith were flawed and broken.
  • Isaiah 6:5; 1 Timothy 1:15
  • Their failings bring me almost as much comfort as the promises of God, because if there is hope for them, there is also hope for me.
How do we get to reach change in our lives?
  • It is NOT the realization that we are okay, but the realization that we are NOT okay.
  • It is from this humble place that we have any chance of growing in virtues of Christ.
  • God does not love us to the degree that we are like Christ. Rather he loves us to the degree that we are in Christ.
  • The first step in becoming like Jesus is acknowledging how unlike Jesus we are and knowing that he loves us just the same.
Where do we go from here? WE STUMBLE ON. Galatians 4:19
  • Even though we will never full attain it in this life, we stumble forward with all the energy Christ supplies toward the perfection for which we were made.
  • Philippians 1:6
HOW? Galatians 5:16-18. You are NOT under law.
  • Being in Jesus and not under law means we are perfect in God's eyes. 2 Cor. 5:21
Power to Change?
  • Having been declared forgiven, perfect and loved in God's sight, you are free to pursue obedience to God.
  • You are free to become the person you already are in the sight of God.
What is our role in all of this?
  • We participate in becoming LIKE Jesus as we invest ourselves in being with Jesus.
  • We seek his kingdom first, primarily through the means of abiding in Christ and his word.
